We are back! The Schuylkill County Fair that is.  We are back “Making Memories One Fair at a Time.”  It is that time of the year to get your premium book and see what new exhibit categories have been added to the list of what can be exhibited at the 2021 Schuylkill County Fair.  Premium books will be available for pick up at the fairgrounds 2270 Fair Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.  Days for premium book pick up are Saturday, June 5 or Sunday, June 6.  Premium Book may be picked up between the hours of Noon and 2 PM.  There is a limited supply so come out and pick up your free Premium Book for the 2021 Schuylkill County Fair August 2-7.

So you are wondering what this premium book is because you have never exhibited in the fair.    A premium book is a book where all the class are listed under departments.  So you say what are class and departments?  Classes are a listing of things by category that may be entered in the fair.  So say that you have a really great photo of the landscape of some part of Schuylkill County and would like to enter it into the fair to be judged for its quality and to be seen by others.  You may view and download a copy of the premium book online at www.schuylkillfair.com and find Dept. 19 which is Arts and Crafts and start looking down the list of classes.  Stop when you find 19/1/13 if it is a black and white photo of a landscape or look further to 19/1/22 for a color landscape.  Place those numbers on the general entry form that you have printed from the premium book on line found near the end of the PDF file.  Mail the entry form into the address on the form and bring your landscape photo to the fairgrounds on July 31 between the hours of 11AM and 4 PM.  There is a very large variety of class in the premium book for almost anything that can be made, grown, raised or collected.  There are listing of classes for fruit, vegetable, flowers, needle crafts, food, wine, grain and arts and crafts to tractor.  There is sure to be a class for your interest.  So take a look at the premium book on line for your area of interest.

If you choose to come to the Fair grounds on the above-mentioned dates to pick up your hard copy of the Fair Premium book, stay for the events going on the Fairgrounds.  Saturday is a Tractor Pull event at the track.  Tractor Pulling is known as “the world’s heaviest motorsport.” The goal of tractor pulling is to determine the strongest machine and the best driver.  Tractor Pulls are different to every other motorsport in the world, it is not about the speed, but distance pulled.  Tractor Pulling starts with a sled that has weights on it.  The sled starts out a pull with an effective weight of the sled plus zero. As the tractor begins its pull, the weight is moved forward at a set rate, pushing the front of the sled farther and farther into the ground, increasing the friction that the tractor is pulling against.   This event is a shine event only.

Sunday, June 6 Elvis takes the Main Stage.  A concert featuring Giovanni (Gino) Mercuri is a 17-year-old Award Winning Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) from Clark Summit, PA. He performs live and on the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds Stage for an afternoon of Elvis songs.  Gino was introduced to the music of Elvis Presley at a young age.  It was not too long after that Gino could not only sing, but he could sing like Elvis.  Performances are at 2 and 4 PM.  Concert is a rain or shine event.

Premium books will be available for pick up both days June 5 and 6 regardless of the weather.  Again the hours for pick up are Noon to 2 PM.  The 2021 SCF Premium Book can also be found online at www.schuylkillfair.com.  An exhibitor can download the premium book at the fair website as well as obtain exhibitor entry forms.  You may also request a hard copy of the premium book sent to you by mailing $3.00 to Denise Mullin at 505 ½ Ridge Road, Pottsville, PA 17901 to cover the cost of postage and receive a hard copy of the premium book.
