Kid’s art will abound at the Schuylkill County Fair this year because the fair is excited to partner with the Arts Barn of Orwigsburg. Who better than the Arts barn to help the fair operate the Kids Tent. The Kids Tent is where all the fun is happening from hands on art projects to be done, bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles, hand-prints, games, contests and mush more.
The Kids Tent it will be open daily and operated by The Arts Barn Education Center daily from 4:30 to 7:30 and 12- to 7:30 on Kids Day as well as from 1 to5PM on Saturday. Stop by to make and take crafts focused around agriculture and nature with the emphasis of this year’s fair theme of “We have Good things growing. Lauren Anderson, Arts Barn Kids Director is excited to bring new and exciting ideas to arts and crafts done in the Kids Tent. The Arts Barn educators are sure to have a number of fun crafts for kids of all ages. The crafts are easy, hands on and fun for all to take home to remember the good time at the fair.
Lauren is excited to engage children in a number of make and take activities that include but are not limited to Free-style ART, Fingerprint character bookmarks, Tactile 3D Art, and Potted Plants. Free-style Art is just that drawing, doodling, designing with markers, crayons, paper, glue, and scissors with the theme “We have Good Things Growing”. This activity allows each kid and (young at heart) to have the freedom to create with the fair’s theme as artistic inspiration.
Fingerprint Character Bookmarks allows each child, when given a book mark, to make personal prints using their own fingerprints. Starting with a finger print the children can then drawl characters such as bugs, faces, animals, etc. with pencil and markers. Many examples will be available to facilitate this activity.
Tactile 3D Art is where Children will be able to play, mold and build with homemade clay in primary colors. Creating fair memories with cookie cutters, spoons and other objects.
Potted Plants is where each child can have their own potted plant, utilizing recycled cups, water bottles, smaill containers, etc.. with soil and seeds. The kids can take each one home and watch as it grows. The children will choose their container, add soil, seeds and water. Each child will have information on seed growth and plant care. We have good things growing at the Schuylkill County Fair.
As Arts Barn Kids Director, Lauren hopes all childten will stop by the Kids Tent during the fair to participate in the many hands on art projects. All of these projects are sponsored by the Arts Barn in Orwigsburg. Stop in for some great fun.
