Celebrity Tractor Pull

Schuylkill County Commissioner Gary Hess is in the driver’s seat during the Celebrity Tractor Pull.

Third year running, the Celebrity Tractor pull is back again at the 2016 Schuylkill County Fair.

Wednesday evening, August 3 should be a lot of fun for all to be found on the Ag Museum tract as there will be a Celebrity Tractor Pulling Competition.  The celebrities, without dropping any names, come from the news media, political arena and agricultural industry.  Although there are some with agricultural backgrounds, it can be safely said that none of them have worked a tractor in this capacity. Come cheer on local noted individuals “outstanding in their field” attempt to sit in the driver seat of the tractors and push the throttle forward.  Who will end up being the winner is anyone’s guess; could be the person with the heaviest hand or is that a lead foot.  The celebrity tractor pull has drawn a number of many eager participants applying their skills to win the coveted trophy and the bragging rights for the year as the champion celebrity puller.

Speaking of bragging rights for the year.  The bragging rights for 2015 Celebrity Tractor Pull went to our own Schuylkill County Fair board member Kim Morgan.  Now Kim comes with a little farming experience to the track when she participated last year.   Kim hobby farms a flock of sheep and helps her husband Craig with hauling in the hay from the farm in Washington Township.   Kim said prior to this pull the only pulling she has ever done is from the end of a metal hoe when planting the vegetable garden.   Kim said she felt a little intimidated sitting in the seat of that massive tractor as it made its run down the track pulling the sled.   She gives all the credit to her coach Matt Halabura of Halabura Tree Farms.   Kim gladly accepted the trophy and challenges anyone to try to unseat her at this year’s pull.

Come cheer on your favorite celebrity as they attempt to pull the sled with that powerful tractor down the track on Wednesday, August 3.  The “track boys” and fellow members of the Schuylkill County Fair board of directors would like to remind everyone that the Schuylkill County Fair comes once a year and to mark their calendars for this and other events like it.
