The purpose of the Fair Royalty competition program is to encourage
the promotion of agricultural fairs and to create better relations
between youth and adults in both rural and urban settings.
Qualifications:
1. Little Miss contestants must be between the ages of 7 and 11 at
the time of the contest. Princess contestants must be between the ages
of 12 and 15 at the time of the contest. Queen contestants must be
between the ages of 16 and 20 at the time of the contest. All must be
residents of Schuylkill County.
2. Each Contestant is required to submit a $30 sponsor fee on behalf
of the Schuylkill County Fair Association.
3. Each contestant is required to submit a letter explaining “Why I
want to be Schuylkill County Fair Royalty.”, based on which category you
are competing for. Your letter will be provided for you the day of the
contest, if needed.
4. Each contestant must fill out the Personal Information Form. This
is a clickable link at the bottom of the page.
5. Each contestant must send in 2 wallet size photos of themselves,
suitable for publishing in “The Call” and “The Republican and Herald”.
6. Contestants may not be or ever have been married or pregnant.
Information to Know:
1. There will be two days of events for the contestants. The
Sunday before the contest there will be a Judge’s Reception, which all
contestants are required to attend. Monday of the contest is when the On
Stage Interviews will take place, as well as the crowning ceremony.
2. On the opening day of the fair, each contestant will be
interviewed on stage. You will first present your speech based on the
letter you submitted, as stated on the topic above. Please keep speeches
to a 3 minute or less time frame. When you are finished presenting your
speech, you will be asked a random question and will need to answer it
to the best of your ability. The contestants will be judged on Poise,
Appearance, Neatness, Speaking Ability, Personal Interview and Submitted
Letter.
3. At the Judge’s Reception, the contestants will vote for a girl
who they believe is very friendly, bubbly, and kind. Whoever receives
the most votes will be named the 2008 Schuylkill County Fair Miss
Congeniality and will be announced at the crowning ceremony. Miss
Congeniality will receive flowers and a gift. This title is an honor to
receive.
4. A $500 scholarship will be made available to the 2008
Queen. The Queen will also receive a crown, sash and a trophy. The
Princess and Little Miss will each receive a Crown, Trophy, Sash and
$100. All other contestants will receive $50.
5. The 2008 Queen will be expected to attend the state level
competition in January 2009 at the Hershey Lodge. Room and fees for the
Queen and Mother will be provided by the Fair Association.
Transportation to the competition will not be provided by the Fair
Association.
6. The chosen 2008 Royalty contestants will be expected to appear
every day at the 2008 Schuylkill County Fair wearing their crowns and
banners. Schedules will be discussed with the Royalty Advisor.
7. The Princess, Queen and Little Miss will be expected to be at all
events requested and on time to each. You will be informed in advance of
times, places, dress code, and dates.

and 2 photos (wallet size) by Friday, July 18th NO LATE ENTERIES WILL BE

Upon receiving your letter, personal information form, entry fee, and
two photos, a letter will be sent to you to confirm your entry.
